Langban was pretty good and the service was very friendly and down to earth. Me and my partner did the tasting menu and I thought that Kanom Krok with the scallops was easily the best dish of the night. It was so flavorful and creamy that I regretted that I finished the bite so fast. I think that the appetizers were the star of the menu and that all the other dishes were quite forgettable. Not bad, but not phenomenal as I didn't really feel that there were any particular stand outs. For the final main dish, there was a curry for "family style" but while it was nicely presented, I just didn't think there was anything special or out of the ordinary for something that commanded the price of a tasting menu. It was also a bit too spicy for my own palette. Regardless, it was a fun experience and might be worth it if you are a fan of Thai food in a slightly elevated context.

It's no wonder they just got a James Beard nomination. The space, service, and food were top notch! From the first course to the last, every bite was a party in your mouth. If I had to choose a favorite it would, without question, be the lamb belly curry! O. M. G. Melt in your mouth. They also run two restaurants out of the same space on weekends and they were so on top of everything, you would never know. Cannot wait to visit their sister restaurant Phuket Kitchen.

Langbaan: Blown away by this experience and the omakase, attention and care put together by this team. Entering Langbaan is like journeying to a traditional Thai home. The dimly lit greens and wood beams provide an intimate setting for your meal experience. The staff is attentive and wonderful; they take care to explain the menu and enjoy the experience. Each course is inspired by Thai cuisine and local ingredients. You will have a hard time deciding which standout plate tops them all. Thai food to me is very flavorful: coconut milk, nuts, spices. I particularly enjoyed the "Jook" - an amazing multi-textured, multi-flavored dish using octopus and pomegranate. It was an experience I'd never tasted before. It's not strictly Thai, but honors the innovation and palette of Thai culture. It's a sensory feast. Langbaan is a can't miss, if you're in Portland and want to taste something unique, but familiar- and yet, distinctly Portland. Food: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Experience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Good for: Fancy dinner. Celebrating. Authenticity: 4/5 Recommends: Giving yourself over to the experience. Notes:

Came here for a special occasion. It is a fixed menu. And no modifications and 20% gratuity is added. We arrived right at 8:30pm, we got seated right away at the bar. We did have 2 different servers help and they were both great! Very knowledgeable about each item in the menu and the ingredients. The ambiance was very chill and casual. It was a bit dark and really hard to read the menu ingredients (luckily we had a small light at the bar). It wasn't highly decorated but a great mood overall. Food tasted good with a few hits and misses but we tried some things that we never tried before. Definitely come with people who have been to tasting menus before and won't complain about the price!
